The second entry in my Athens chronology is Big City Bread. This bakery and/or cafe was responsible for some of the longest, loveliest afternoons I spent in Athens. Located a few blocks back off Baxter on Finley Street, its about a ten minute walk from downtown. They do an excellent breakfast, brunch, and lunch; then, late afternoon, they close down and transform into a full service restaurant. While the lights in the trees are lovely and worth seeing in the evening, I’d actually recommend the lunch menu. Sandwiches are about 8 dollars, and the sunshine under the trees is free. I love buying one of their tomato baguettes and taking an orangina outside to read the novel of the week.
Here, I’m repping my fallback uniform: safari chic. I dressed up a Forever 21 romper with Charlotte Russe shoes and a J. Crew vest. it was just breezy enough for the swelter of a Georgia afternoon when catching up with an old friend.
